SAVOR…Student Chef is awarded Student Culinarian of the Year
Christina Franco-Olivera awarded by the Texas Chef Association

(August 23 - Corpus Christi, TX )

SAVOR… student chef, Christina Franco-Olivera was recently awarded the TCA State Student Chef of the Year by the local Texas Chefs of the Coastal Bend (TCA). Christina will now be eligible for the ACF Central Region Student Chef of the Year if all ACF requirements are met.

Christina was recently awarded with this honor after her chapter recognized her for showing leadership skills, initiative, and participation within the organization and also at her job at SMG managed American Bank Center. Christina who is originally from Mcallen, moved to Corpus Christi last year to pursue her passion in the culinary field, attending Del Mar college’s culinary program where she is studying baking, pastry, and other elements of culinary arts. Her study as well as job at American Bank Center has given Christina the opportunity to develp her passion while also gaining hands on training and networking through the Texas Chef Association.

“I am very honored that I was nominated by my peers and received this award, exclaimed Christina. The support and knowledge that I am getting here at American Bank Center makes it possible to excel in my goals.”

“I had the opportunity to meet Cristina at a meeting of the Chefs of the Coastal Bend held at Del Mar College, explained Executive Chef for SAVOR… Michael Stephans.  She was a first semester culinary student attending her first local chapter meeting, but she was already a member of the Rio Grande Valley Chapter. It’s been a wonderful experience to see how much she has grown in the year that I’ve known her, both as a culinarian and as a young woman. I look forward to her continued involvement with the TCA Chefs of the Coastal Bend and as her Chef with SMG managed American Bank Center.”
