| Finalist #1: Jon and Nicole Proposal Story: My fiance is a helicopter rescue swimmer for the USCG, before leaving for "work" he was on our balcony looking up at the sky. I asked what he was doing; he said the sky looked amazing, and in about two hours we were going to be falling from it. We were going skydiving over the ocean! When we landed on the beach he got on one knee and said "You've taken one big leap of faith with me today, I'm going to ask you to take one more. Will you marry me?" I said YES! 1. How did you first meet?
Through friends while they were in a small town in Oregon - Jon was there with the coastguard and Nicole was there for a job. Both are actually from Southern California.
2. How long have you been dating for?
Just over 2 years
3. How long have you been engaged for?
Since this April
4. What have you planned for your wedding so far?
Nothing yet
5. What are some of your most memorable moments together? On our first date we went out for sushi, our favorite food, and Jon choked on a spicy tuna roll... not realizing it was a SPICY roll! Our very first Valentine’s Day weekend we went to a quaint cabin in the mountains in Oregon, which turned out to be not so quaint, but more dilapidated instead. We had a great snowboarding trip to Colorado with the family this year, and of course our skydiving adventure/proposal. There are just so many memories to try to list! 6. What makes your relationship special? Our bond makes our relationship special; we are best friends. We have the same morals and ideals. We also greatly value our difference in opinions. We take pride in our ability to work seamlessly with each other, through good times and bad. 7. What qualities of your significant other do you admire most? I admire her will. She is a dedicated woman who cares deeply for her family and friends. She works extremely hard and doesn’t give up. She works so hard and looks extremely beautiful at the same time. I admire his passion for life. With Jon it’s all or nothing, he always gives 110% in his personal and professional life. I admire his great attitude and positive outlook on life, he inspires me every day. 8. How has your life been after meeting your significant other? My life has improved significantly since meeting my bride. She has empowered me with strength and love. She gives me the reason to come home at night and the reason to push through adversity. My husband-to-be teaches me something new every day. He motivates me to be the best person I can be. Together there isn’t anything we can’t achieve if we want it. 9. What is your idea of the perfect wedding? My idea of a perfect wedding would be for my bride to have her dream wedding. Whatever she wants I would want her to have. I only care that we have the people we love present to share our special moment with us. Being surrounded by our friends and family is the most important ingredient for the perfect wedding. 10. What do you look forward to most with being married? I just want to finally call her my wife and to have beautiful children together and make a nice home for us. I look forward to all the great times ahead of us! |

| Finalist #2: Oscar and Maria Proposal Story: Oscar planned a trip to San Diego, California. One evening, we ate at the historic El Prado in Balboa Park. After, we went walking. I was ready to call it a night, but Oscar insisted on continuing. We discovered a beautiful courtyard lit up by strings of lights. Oscar then asked someone to take our photo. After, Oscar asked for another. As the gentleman began, Oscar went to one knee, I burst into tears. This magical moment was caught in a series of photos, and will always be there to remind me of the day we began our new journey. 1. How did you first meet?
Both were going to Del Mar and would see each other on campus. One day while Maria was studying in Harvin Center Oscar walked up to her and asked her what she was studying.

3. How long have you been engaged for?
Since this April
4. What have you planned for your wedding so far?
Will be next year - March or April
5. What are some of your most memorable moments together? The most memorable moment we have together is our vacation to San Diego, Ca. and the proposal that took place that first night. It was at a beautiful courtyard surrounded by strings of lights, in the middle of Balboa Park. It was magical. Being big baseball fans, another would have to be going to a playoff game between the Texas Rangers and the New York Yankees. It was a great atmosphere and an awesome experience. 6. What makes your relationship special? I would have to say the abundance of laughter and fun we have together is what makes our relationship special. In the good times and bad, we are always able to make it through with laughter. 7. What qualities of your significant other do you admire most? For Oscar it’s very simple, he is the nicest person I have ever met. He is always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone. Everyday before I leave for work he tells me to be nice to everyone, which helps me strive to be a better person. As a fireman and paramedic, Oscar never second guesses helping out another person in their time of need. It’s a quality I hope to instill in our children someday. 8. How has your life been after meeting your significant other? My life has been everything I ever hoped for. Oscar and I are very blessed to be where we are today. We’ve created a wonderful life together, and hope it will only get better as we begin this new journey. There is no better feeling than having your best friend there for you always, and that’s what I have. 9. What is your idea of the perfect wedding? My idea of the perfect wedding would be standing at the alter with Oscar, surrounded by our family and friends in a romantic, vintage setting at sunset. The scenery would be overflowing with big, beautiful flowers, and lit up by strings of lights. 10. What do you look forward to most with being married? The thing I look forward to most is starting a family. Oscar and I both love kids, and look forward to sometime down the road completing our family with children of our own. |
