On March, 23, 2008 Emilio was involved in a life-threatening accident when his tour bus crashed following a performance in Houston. Emilio was hospitalized in critical condition and doctors feared he might not survive. Three days after his accident he awoke from a medically-induced coma and after undergoing intense surgery, he began rehabilitation and is now healed and returning to the stage to perform for his fans.
Tejano/Country Superstar, Emilio has dominated the Tejano scene for over twelve years and single-handedly has broken barriers in the Tejano industry. Emilio has managed to be the first to win Album of the Year with Progressive in 1993, Video of the Year in 1995, Tejano Country of the Year in 1996 and Humanitarian of the Year in 1998. Since 1990, Emilio has hosted the Emilio Navaira’s “Tejano’s for Children” foundation raising well over $900,000.00 to benefit the Santa Rosa Children’s Hospital and the Children’s Miracle Network.
