Sports fans get ready for one of the biggest events of the year! We’re bringing the Texas Sports Extravaganza back to the American Bank Center Convention Center February 10th & 11th.

Meet and get autographs from your favorite players including Jay Novacek, Robert Newhouse, Tony Hill, Hall of Fame Spurs Basketball Legend George “Ice Man” Gervin, and Texas Professional Boxer Jesse James Leija’s “The Texas Tornado.”

George "Ice Man" Gervin - George Gervin's playing record speaks volumes. Only Wilt Chamberlain and Michael Jordan have won more league scoring Champtionships than Gervin's four, and he was the first guard ever to win three titles in a row. His career scoring average of 26.6 points per game is among the game's best as is his combined NBA/ABA total of 26,595 points. During his career, Gervin recorded a remarkable streak of scoring double figures in 407 consuecutive games. He played in 12 straight All-Star Games, including nine in the NBA, and he averaged at least 21 points in each of those doezen years. In his nine NBA seasons with San Antonio, the Spurs won five division titles. He won an All-Star Game MVP Award and twice placed second in voting for the regular-season MVP Award. Honors: Elected to Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame (1996); All-NBA First Team (1978, '79, '80, '81, '82); All-NBA Second Team (1977, '83); Nine-team NBA All-Star (1977-85); All-Star MVP (1980); one of 50 greatest players in NBA history (1996).

Jay Novacek - Novacek had 83 career receptions for 1,536 yards and 10 touchdowns. Novacek also competed in track and field; he won the Western Athletic Conference Decathlon Championship earning All-American honors. He se UW records for decathlon points and in the pole vault. Novacek was a key contributor for Dallas in the early 1990's, assisting them to the Super Bowls three wins in four seasons. In those games, he recorded a combined total of 17 receptions for 148 yards and two touchdowns. In his 11 seasons, Novacek recorded 422 receptions for 4,620 yards and 30 touchdowns.

Jesse James Leija - Leija began his professional boxing career on October 2, 1988, beating Oscar Davis by knockout in round one in Leija's native San Antonio. On January 1, 1989, he defeated Joe Mitchell by a decision in four at the Trump Plaza hotel in New Jersey. This marked Leija's debut outside Texas. On his fourth fight, Leija beat future Shane Mosley challenger, Manuel Gomez in San Antonio by decision in four. During the early 1990's, Leija began to become famous in the boxing world, winning his first fifteen fights, ten by knockout. His first blemish came on October 8, 1990, when he was held to a ten round draw (tie) by Edward Parker in San Antonio.

Tony Hill - Tony Hill is a former professional American Football Wide receiver who played ten seasons in the NFL for the Dallas Cowboys (1977-1986). Before his NFL Career, he played for Stanford University. As a rookie, Hill won a championship ring with the Cowboys when they defeated the Denver Broncos 27-10 in Super Bowl XII. The following season, Hill became a starter and made the pro bowl, catching 46 passes for 823 yards and six touchdowns and assisting the team to their second consecutive championship appearance. In Dallas' 35-31 Super Bowl XIII loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, Hill caught two passes for 49 yards and a touchdown. Hill went on to make the pro bowl two more times in his career (1979 and 1985). He never played in a Super Bowl again, but played in ten more postseason games. One of the better performances in his career was in a 1982 divisional playoff game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, when he caught seven passes for 142 yards in the Cowboys' 30-17 win. Hill finished his ten NFL seasons with 479 receptions for 7,988 yards and 51 touchdowns in 142 games. He also rushed for 84 yards, returned 27 punts for 268 yards, and gained 96 yards on four kickoff returns.

Robert Newhouse - Robert Newhouse was a professional American football player for the Dallas Cowboys (1972-1983). Newhouse (also known as 'House'), was born in Longview, Texas in 1950 and went to college in Houston. He was a second round draft pick for the Cowboys. He played fullback and led the Cowboys in yards rushed in 1975 with 930 yards. "Like trying to tackle a fire hydrant," at 5'10 and 209 pounds, Newhouse plowed his way through, 4,784 rushing yards and 956 receiving yards during his notable career.
