November 3, 2006 - STARS is proud to announce that our 2006 Corpus Christi Extravaganza will feature one of Country Music’s Top Vocal Group….Lonestar and New Comer Sensation….Josh Gracin. The 2006 STARS Extravaganza is scheduled for Wednesday, December 6th at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Tickets for Lonestar and Josh Gracin will be on sale for the public on Friday, November 10th at 10:00AM at the American Bank Center Box Office, on-line at www.ticketmaster.com, or by phone at 361-881-8499. Tickets are also available for purchase at Macy’s and FYE at Padre-Staples Mall, and selected HEB locations.
South Texas Academic Rising Scholars (STARS) was established in 2002 as a grass-roots organization. It was founded with the goal of making higher education affordable to the students of South Texas. Since its beginnings, STARS Scholarship Organization of South Texas has assisted over 3200 students in obtaining a higher education at the college or university of their choice.
The success of STARS is in large part due to the generous individuals, businesses and organizations that support our organization. In 2005, STARS raised over 2.7 million dollars for South Texas student scholarships through our annual Extravaganzas.
Funds are raised annually through Extravaganza events in the Rio Grande Valley, Corpus Christi, and Laredo. Each year top entertainers are featured, making this one of the premier events in South Texas. Previous entertainers have included LeAnn Rimes, Brooks & Dunn, Los Lonely Boys, Tim McGraw and many others.
We invite local businesses to support our initiatives; by becoming a sponsor of the 2006 Corpus Christi Extravaganza. Our sponsors enjoy benefits such as being guests at the Extravaganza, to include a private event prior to the live performances of Lonestar and Josh Gracin and year round media exposure.
