February 1, 2007 - Harlem Globetrotter, Barry Hardy will be in Corpus Christi Thursday, February 1st and Friday, February 2nd. During his visit, he will stop by two local schools to present the C.H.E.E.R. Challenge. Hardy will be at William B. Travis Elementary School at 3210 Churchill this Thursday from 1:30pm – 2:30pm. On Friday, Hardy will visit with students at Calk Elementary School at 4621 Marie Street from 10am – 11am.
As part of a unique national partnership with the U.S. Department of Education and the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, Barry Hardy will be speaking to students about the team’s “C.H.E.E.R. For Character” program. The interactive program focuses on the following character traits: Cooperation, Healthy Mind & Body, Effort, Enthusiasm and Responsibility. During the school visit, Hardy will incorporate the Globetrotters’ signature ball handling skills into a motivational presentation to the students. In addition, students will be challenged to make and keep a commitment to regular physical activity and take the President’s Challenge to lead a more active lifestyle.
