October 25, 2007 - (October 25, 2007 – Corpus Christi, TX) American Bank Center is preparing for EliteXC: Renegade, the hottest Mixed Martial Arts event in America! It’s just two weeks away, on Saturday, November 10th MMA superstar, Nick Diaz will take on highly regarded, KJ Noons, for the EliteXC World Title and Mike “Quicksand” Pyle will challenge Jake Shields in the Semi-Main event bout.
Adding to the gripping action, infamous internet fighting legend, Kimbo Slice, will make his EliteXC debut live from American Bank Center Arena! According to EliteXC president, Gary Shaw, Corpus Christi will not only be a focal point during the SHOWTIME broadcast, but the beneficiary of a nice economic impact as a result of the event. “No question that this will be a great showcase event for Corpus Christi,” said Shaw.
“Our event will not only feature some of the best mixed-martial-arts fighters in the world, but also provide Corpus Christi an opportunity to be shown in a very positive light during the television broadcast -- not just in the United States, but also to many foreign countries.
“In addition to the tremendous exposure for the city, with all the production staff, fighters and their camps coming in, there will also be a significant economic impact for the City.”
Shaw estimates that more than 300 people will be coming to Corpus Christi to produce the event -- generating thousands of dollars in airfares, hotel, food and entertainment. In addition is the tax revenues generated from those expenses, plus temporary work provided for many locals.
