February 20, 2008 - After three consecutive games on the road, Texas A&M-Corpus; Christi will finally return home to host Texas State Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the American Bank Center. The Islanders are coming off two-straight wins in Louisiana over Nicholls State and Southeastern La. and looking for their first three-game win streak this season.
Texas State will come to Corpus Christi with an 11-3 overall and 4-7 Southland Conference mark. The Bobcats have lost three-straight with their last win coming on Feb. 2 when they upset Sam Houston State 96-93 in overtime.
The Bobcats are the league’s highest scoring team with 84 a game and have scored 90-or-more points seven times this season, but on the flip side, the are giving up over 85 points per game. In the first meeting this season, A&M-Corpus; Christi shot a season-high 56.3 percent from the field in its 82-69 win.
Brandon Bush leads the Bobcats with 14.4 points per game, while Brent Benson is the only other player averaging in double figures with 13.3.
With their two wins in Louisiana, the Islanders currently sit fifth in the Southland Conference standings with a 5-5 league mark. After the Texas State game, A&M-Corpus; Christi will head north to take on Texas-Arlington Saturday at 4 p.m.
