March 1, 2010 - AMERICAN BANK CENTER IN “TOP 10 TOP STOPS” IN TEXAS
TO BE FEATURED IN THE MARCH ISSUE OF VENUES TODAY
On the heels of selling out yet another concert at American Bank Center, Venues Today awards Corpus Christi’s premier event center a spot in the “Top 10 Top Stops” in Texas. The honor is based on concert and event grosses from January 1, 2009 through December 31, 2009 for venues with capacities between 5,001 and 10,000 seats.
The SMG managed facility joins nine other Texas venues in the Top 10 list including NOKIA Theatre at Grand Prairie, Dodge Arena in Hidalgo, Reliant Arena in Houston, Dell Diamond in Round Rock and the Laredo Entertainment Center.
On February 20th, American Bank Center went on sale with Elton John tickets selling the house in less than one hour. The Elton John concert is among 60 full-house events held at the venue since 2004. In 2010, American Bank Center has already sold nearly the entire house for six events including the Joker’s Wild Comedy Club, Gabriel Iglesias and Taylor Swift. American Bank Center/SMG General Manager, Marc Solis attributes the success of the building to live entertainment fans saying, “Without them, this building wouldn’t exist, our jobs wouldn’t exist. We live to bring them the kind of entertainment they demand. Every event is fan driven, therefore, it’s important for everyone to support live music and entertainment in our city in order to continue to bring major acts. We are a small market compared to Houston, Austin and the Rio Grande Valley but we’re taking big leaps to remain competitive.”
